Fan Speed Controller
Our Commercial Fan Speed Controller is used in commercial kitchens with Gas Interlock Systems as explained by the Health & Safety Executive; they control the speed of the inlet and outlet ventilation fans.
We supply our commercial fan speed controller in three amp ranges, 5A, 10A and 15A at 240v. Each unit is fitted with an on/off rocker switch; the control is from 10% to 98% of power; this reduces the risk of motor hum. The casing is IP55 rating; it has two blanked off knock-out holes at the bottom and is supplied with 2 cable entry glands for the power supply and fan motor.
Why are Fan Speed Controllers used in Commercial Kitchens?
The commercial fan speed controller is an important part of a gas interlock system. It allows the user to adjust the ventilation within the environment, ensuring that it complies with regulations and prevents the gas interlock system from shutting the main gas supply valve. This happens when the fan speed is turned down too low.
The rating of the speed controller should be sized so that it allows for startup loads.

What size fan speed controller do I need?
You can work this information out by checking what the fans motor load is. The load will either be in amps or wattage. If it’s in wattage, convert it to amps by dividing the watts by the voltage. As most motors have a startup load, this can be typically 15-30% higher than the running load (refer to the motors start up load guidance).
