Quartz vs Ceramic Heaters

When choosing heating elements, you want to be sure that you’re choosing the most suitable one, hence why the team at Under Control are always on hand to provide you with any necessary advice or support that you need.

Choosing quartz heating elements or ceramic heating elements is often a difficult decision to make; they both transfer heat by INFRARED and provide a ready source over 95% energy to heat conversion. Although the quartz heaters and the ceramic heaters are designed to reach high temperatures, they perform differently.

What are Quartz Heaters?

The quartz heaters generate a faster source of heat as they operate in the medium part of the infrared spectrum. They are used for plastic thermoforming and high-speed processes. This heater uses direct radiation and innovative technology to heat areas very quickly.

What are Ceramic Heaters?

Our ceramic heating elements are also used to generate heat using Farwave infrared technology. These heaters are typically used for applications such as vacuum/thermoforming, drying paints or ink, and industrial or commercial space heating.

Receiving the best quality.

When selecting a new heater, whether it’s a ceramic heater or a quartz heater, you want to know that you’re receiving the best value for money! Here at Under Control, we provide a wide range of heating elements that are priced according to their capabilities.

All our products are priced competitively to provide you with the most suitable solution. The quartz heaters are the most expensive of the two, so if you’re on a limited budget, the ceramic heating elements are more appropriate, they provide you with a cheaper source of energy.

Most efficient.

Of the two, the quartz heating elements are designed to be more efficient than the ceramic heaters. With the quartz heating elements, you can expect to receive a rapid heat source and fast response, whereas the ceramic heaters are slower.

Under Control’s ceramic heating elements distribute heat effectively as it heats objects and not air. Our ceramic heaters have a working life of up to 10,000 hours and are 98% efficient- this enables them to reach high temperatures with less energy!

You need to choose wisely if you want to use the heater safely. The ceramic heaters are the safest option when it comes to providing comfortable heat. The maximum temperature of the ceramic heater is 700°C ensuring that the heater won’t overheat.

Our quartz heaters are renowned for their ability to heat up quickly and perform at high speeds, they operate in the short and medium wavelengths and so are best option should re-tooling downtimes be required to be kept to a minimum.
