The ULC/3P phase angle power controllers are ideal for control of single-phase 230Vac
applications. They have on/off and 3 selectable positions and are fitted with a RFI
filter to comply with EMC regulations class A. The large triac enables the unit to
handle high inrush current with ample safety margins on industrial installations.
They are also easy to installed, only a fixing hole and locking nut to hold it in
place. A scale plate and turning knob supplied in the pack. To prolong the life
of the unit we also recommend the use of our heat-sink paste for applications of
5A and above.
New from Under Control Instruments, high-specification 8820 series digital controllers
are supplied as standard with 20A relay outputs and two NTC sensors. They are suitable
for many applications requiring on/off temperature control of heating or cooling
systems.
These digital thermostats can also be used as replacements for normal capillary thermostats
as the prices are now comparable.

We offer a range of single and three phase solid state relays available for chassis
or Din mounting. They are supplied with a protection cover and LED indicator.
Please call for more details.
The UVR/S power regulators (dimmers) switch is also supplied in its own enclosure
for wall mounting application. This also acts as its own heat sink.

Temperature Sensors
Thermocouples, PT100 and thermistors are used where the measurement of a process
temperature is required. In general PT100 and PT1000 are more accurate over larger
temperature spans and thermocouples are generally more cost effective.
We offer many sizes from stock, if not stock we can supply them in days if required.

The most common thermocouples are K and J. Common PT100 probes both 2 and 3 wire
designs.
Features and Applications
4-wire PyroCouple sensors provide a voltage or thermocouple output (J, K or T) representing
target temperature, plus a 4 to 20 mA output proportional to the sensor temperature.
Typical applications might include:
Installations where there is a risk that the sensor could be damaged by overheating,
for example in semi-automatic road repair machinery or on infrared-heated moulding/forming
machines.
Installations where there is a risk that the lens might become frosted over if the
sensor temperature drops below 0°C, for example on road-gritting lorries or on ground-survey
aircraft.
In glass houses, where leaf temperature is monitored to detect changes in growth
phases and sensor temperature can be used to detect changes in ambient temperature.
On race tracks, where the sensors are mounted on overhead gantries and bridges to
measure the track surface surface and detect changes in ambient temperature.
In ice rinks, where the sensors are suspended from the ceiling and measure the ice
surface and changes in ambient temperature.
For forest fire detection, where a remote-mounted sensor can give warning of excessive
temperatures either on the ground or in the air.
For thermal mapping inside large-scale temperature-controlled storage facilities.
