Quality Accuracy Reliability
New from Under Control Instruments, high-specification 8820 series digital controllers
are supplied as standard with 20A relay outputs and two NTC sensors. They are suitable
for many applications requiring on/off temperature control of heating or cooling
systems.
These digital thermostats can also be used as replacements for normal capillary thermostats
as the prices are now comparable.

The Novus N322 digital controller offers PID and on/off control for heating and refrigeration
purposes with 2 independent setpoints. They are suitable for PT100, Pt1000, T/c J
& K, NTC, PTC.

The Novus N321R is a thermostat dedicated to applications in refrigeration. The defrost
cycle is accomplished by turning off the compressor at time intervals chosen by the
user. Pt100, Pt1000 and thermistor sensors inputs available. Adjust for ON and OFF
durations. Auto defrost at programmable intervals. Manual Defrost key on the front
panel.

The West 6100+ offers all the functionality of the popular 6100 with some enhancements
and time saving features. The same compact format that even fits in the SAME CASE
as the old 6100, so instrument upgrades can be easily performed without wiring changes.
The universal input is freely configurable to TC/RTD/mA/V/mV and can be ordered as
"Default" (set for a "J" type thermocouple input) or preset to your exact requirements.
The main control output is now a plug in option board and can be specified as either
Relay, Logic, Analogue or Triac. The analogue output may be configured to 0/4-20mA,
0/1-5V, 0/2-10V.
Please note that the Output slot 1 board is different to the Output slot 2 and 3
boards.
Features
- Jumperless Configuration
- Automatic Recognition of Modules
- Dual 4 Digit Display
- Universal Input
- Ramping Setpoint
- Autotune
- IP65 front panel sealing
- Optional Features
-
- Low Voltage Version
- Second Output
- Third Output
- RS485 Comms (West or Modbus selectable)
- Dual Setpoint Capability
- Remote analogue Setpoint
- Remote Auto/Manual Switching
Thermocouples, PT100 and thermistors are used where the measurement of a process
temperature is required. In general PT100 and PT1000 are more accurate over larger
temperature spans and thermocouples are generally more cost effective.
We offer many sizes from stock, if not stock we can supply them in days if required.
Common styles
- Probes
- Bayonet
- Assembly DIN B heads
- Flanged
- Sleeved
- Eyelet/Washer
- Surface mount
- Leaf
The most common thermocouples are K and J. Common PT100 probes both 2 and 3 wire
designs.

Features and Applications
4-wire PyroCouple sensors provide a voltage or thermocouple output (J, K or T) representing
target temperature, plus a 4 to 20 mA output proportional to the sensor temperature.
Typical applications might include:
- Installations where there is a risk that the sensor could be damaged by overheating,
for example in semi-automatic road repair machinery or on infrared-heated moulding/forming
machines.
- Installations where there is a risk that the lens might become frosted over if the
sensor temperature drops below 0°C, for example on road-gritting lorries or on ground-survey
aircraft.
- In glass houses, where leaf temperature is monitored to detect changes in growth
phases and sensor temperature can be used to detect changes in ambient temperature.
- On race tracks, where the sensors are mounted on overhead gantries and bridges to
measure the track surface surface and detect changes in ambient temperature.
- In ice rinks, where the sensors are suspended from the ceiling and measure the ice
surface and changes in ambient temperature.
- For forest fire detection, where a remote-mounted sensor can give warning of excessive
temperatures either on the ground or in the air.
- For thermal mapping inside large-scale temperature-controlled storage facilities.
