Cartridge heaters are not suitable for heating air as they are generally high powered heating elements that are use to transferring their heat to other metal bodies such as mould tools and heat presses. If the cartridge heater is left to heat up on its own in open air it will soon overheat and blow the circuit. Even when installing cartridge heaters it is important to ensure that the element has a very “snug” fit and there is no wriggle room at all. This ensures that the heater will continue to work as long as possible.
